Teaching in the WaterWise Garden

The WaterWise Demo Garden at the Sonoma Community Center acts as a real life classroom where local gardeners can hone their knowledge and pick up tips and tricks. The garden was dedicated in May, 2010 as the Maloney Family Memorial Teaching Garden in honor of a Sonoma family that was tragically killed in a car accident.

Harvest for Hungry

Master Gardeners in conjunction with other volunteers maintain the Harvest for the Hungry Garden. which delivers organically grown produce each week to four local hunger programs: FISH of Santa Rosa; The Living Room, a drop-in center for homeless women and children; Elisha's Pantry; and Food For Thought AIDS Food Bank. -
Home Compost Education

The Home Compost Education Project is a partnership with the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency which seeks to educate the home gardener about composting. At the workshops throughout the county, Master Gardeners show gardeners how to compost and then use the resulting material in their gardens. In addition, Master Gardeners volunteers give presentations in local schools to teach children about compost and worm composting. -
