Master Gardener Projects
UC Master Gardeners of Sonoma County engages in our educational outreach mission in a variety ways to reach our community. We provide the following services:
- Help Desk, accessible by telephone, email or drop-in.
- Monthly email newsletter providing timely gardening best practices and a list of upcoming classes and events. Sign up to receive it!
- Demonstration gardens throughout the county showcasing best practices for home gardeners, including fruit trees, edible gardens, low water and California native landscapes.
- Events and classes on a wide variety of gardening topics, held at venues throughout the county. We have a longstanding partnership with the Sonoma County Library and offer lectures at branches around the County.
- Farmers’ Markets: Master Gardeners are present at several different farmers markets each week, generally spring through fall, where we set up an information table stocked with county-specific gardening leaflets for the public.
- Garden Sense is a partnership program with Sonoma Water where we offer home consultations on landscape water conservation including lawn removal, irrigation conversation and low water use plant suggestions.
- Propagation for Education: Our Propagation for Education team is housed at Tierra Farms on Airport Boulevard; the team hosts succulent sales & swaps around the County.
- School garden support offering advice to support school gardens and classes, including gardening basics.
- Sonoma County Fair: Each year, the UC Master Gardeners of Sonoma County have an opportunity to share with Sonoma County gardeners sustainable gardening practices integrated into practical demonstration at the County Fair.
- Speakers bureau to provide talks for organizations.
- Sudden Oak Death is a program funded by the US Forest Service; we conduct an annual citizen science Blitz to track the spread of SOD in Sonoma County.

Demonstration Gardens
Our demonstration gardens showcase best practices for home gardeners and are open to the public (days and hours vary by location).
You're invited to visit, have a look around, and ask questions when we're working in the garden. We also hold occasional classes, events, and plant sales at some of our locations (see our Calendar for upcoming events).
