Where we’ve been
Key accomplishments at The Children’s Garden include:
- Restoring The Children’s Garden with over 650 plants in five themed garden areas.
- Fulfilling the purpose of The Children’s Garden by:
- Growing and delivering over 450 pounds of produce annually.
- Educating Sonoma County children on sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship.
- Debuting The Children’s Garden in October 2023 at our first annual Jamboree event.
- Initiating a field trip program for underserved youth in elementary schools across the County based on lessons and activities tied to NexGen Science Standards about:
- SOIL (Vermiculture and composting)
- FOOD GARDENING (The Four Sisters Native American planting method using corn, beans, squash, and sunflowers)
- HABITAT (Parts of a flower and pollination)
- MINDFULNESS (Five Senses scavenger hunt and journaling about garden experience)

Where we’re going
Continue fulfilling the purpose of The Children’s Garden:
- Grow and deliver fresh produce for children at VMCC (Valley of the Moon Children’s Center).
- Expand and enhance our field trip program throughout the next school year, including bus transportation.
- Explore expanding field trip curriculum by delivering components to elementary school campuses.
